The QIU Library, which has proven to be an essential part of the university's research,
development, teaching, and learning initiatives, is the core of the academic life of the
university.
This is consistent with QIU's mission to become an excellent research-driven private
university
with international strategic connections focused on providing high-caliber curricula and
internationally renowned multidisciplinary research.

effortlessly discover and utilize the resources essential for their studies. Our aim is to
foster a supportive
digital space that encourages learning, exploration, and collaboration among students. We strive
to
empower students to thrive academically by offering them the necessary tools and assistance.
Our Mission
The QIU Library’s mission is to provide seamless access to a comprehensive range of academic
resources, including the franchised e-resources of UTM & UiTM, as well as the E-Library of
University of UTM & UiTM, and to empower the students at QIU with the tools and knowledge
necessary for academic success and lifelong learning.

1- The library has implemented a quiet study policy to preserve a conducive scholarly
environment for focused learning
2- students are kindly requested to discard any food and beverage containers before entering
the library premises.
3- Students who plan to study for extended periods at the library have the option to either
inform their faculty or reach out to the Librarian via Library@uniq.edu.iq.
1- QIU Alumni are permitted to utilize the resources within the library but are not eligible to borrow items.
2- The students are required to retain their ID with the Librarian until they return the book.
3- Renewal of the loan period can be done through the librarian before the due date.
4- All materials which have been lost or damaged should be reported immediately to the librarian. Borrowers need to replace the same book/latest edition OR pay the price of the book.
5- Research papers and FYP theses can only be read within the library premises.

Books currently borrowed may be renewed up to two times, unless they have been placed on hold by another patron prior to the due date. Renewal of books can be done through various methods:
1. In-person: Present your borrowed books physically at the circulation desk.
2. Via Email: Send a renewal request to library@uniq.edu.iq.
Fines:
To encourage the timely return of library resources and optimize sharing of the collections, fines are imposed for overdue items. Borrowers are responsible for renewing or returning items by the specified deadline. Failure to return items by the due date will result in a penalty of 5 IQD per day per item.
*Students with outstanding fines will be unable to register for classes, graduate, or withdraw from university until their fines are settled.
Damage and Loss:
If an item is deemed lost or damaged, the borrower will be charged the cost of the item plus a processing fee, as determined by the library.
1- Students are required to display their ID card throughout their stay in the study rooms.
2- Turn on the lights while using the study rooms.
3- Use of phone is restricted to silent mode only.
4- Eating, drinking (except for drinking water) and smoking are strictly prohibited in the library.
5- The library has the right to ask students whose behavior may be deemed as disturbing the peace of the library to leave the library.
6- Personal belongings should not be left unattended in the library at any time.
7- Misuse of the library computers is not allowed.
8- Tearing or damaging the library property/Books is strictly prohibited.
9- Littering, making noise, or causing disturbance to other library users are prohibited.
Clearance procedure
Academic, non-academic staff who resign, or who are on study leave, are required to return all borrowed items to the library.
Students who postpone their studies or withdraw from the University must return all borrowed items to the library.
Final year students are required to clear fines or return materials borrowed from the library upon completion of their courses
E-library
Access to Franchised QIU e-Libraries is granted either through IP recognition or via username and password
authentication.

PLAGIARISM POLICY AND GUIDELINES
Definition of Plagiarism:
Plagiarism at QIU is defined as the act of presenting someone else's work, ideas, or words as your own without proper acknowledgment or citation. This includes, but is not limited to, copying text from sources without attribution, using someone else's ideas without proper citation, and submitting work that has been written by someone else.
Guidelines to Avoid Plagiarism:
1. Always properly cite and attribute sources when using someone else's ideas, words, or work. This includes both direct quotations and paraphrased information.
2. Use quotation marks or block quotes for direct quotations and provide a citation indicating the source.
3. When paraphrasing, restate the information in your own words and provide a citation indicating the original source.
4. Familiarize yourself with the citation style required by your department or course (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago) and adhere to it consistently.
5. Keep track of all sources used during your research process to ensure proper citation in your final work.
6. Seek guidance from your instructors or academic advisors if you are unsure about proper citation practices.

QIU offers workshops, tutorials, or online resources to help students understand and avoid plagiarism. Take advantage of these resources to improve your understanding of academic integrity principles and citation practices.
